Escape the Okie Zone

This is a personal creative non-fiction journal about a traveller and his evolving life. He saw the waning warmth of humans through his puppy's eyes and now he see the world through his child's eyes. He thought much of our country's warmth went dormant when Bush held our country hostage! Some of my hostile readers suffering from overinflated egos might actually think that I might be writing about them on this blog! Get a life please ;)

Wow....we just came back from NIMBIN, one of the few former havens and worshiping places of the wonderful euphoric weed!! It is the Amsterdam of the southern hemisphere..
Unfortunately, Bruce Lyons is the area drug controller for this mostly agrarian community...
there have been noticeable changes since my last visit in July of 2006
then cops looked the other way when cannabis cookies were sold freely and openly on the street...
The cops have multiplied like rabbits did when they were let loose in this weird upside down island...
originally, there was only one officer of the peace back in the Aquarius Festival of 73(Boy, I wish I came here to live just after I graduated in 73!)
and now there are 9
with two doing a daily walk through both sides of the street making sure to check out all the alleys where the 24 hour newly surveillance cameras don't reach the eyes of our Aussie Big Brother, Bruce lyons...
today an aboriginal was being harassed by the pair of police...the aborigine eventually walked away,,,the native to this land was very loud speaking of the police being pigs
Id like to know the whole story so anybody please free to leave a comment to fill our readers in??
We have had the most wonderful time in this once and future utopia
a fading Camelot from the ideals that they were founded still blossoms in the winter sun of the ever populating planet....

I visited the Hemp Embassy in this cool alternative. They had a movie about the history of the town. I'd eventuhtally like to do a documentary, and more chapters on the hippy movements that that have settled in different spots of the world....

I assure the people of Nimbin that they are no different from the people of any other town of this State. Police cannot condone activities that I have witnessed and that have been reported to me. I remind this section of the community that they have no exemption from the law applying to activities they want to undertake. On Saturday the annual Mardi Grass will be held at Nimbin. There seems to be an attitude among this certain section of the Nimbin population that they have an exemption from the application of the law. (that's what I had thought from previous visits) This attitude has been evident for a few years and these people seem to think that because they have continued their campaign over a period of years, they are condoned. They cannot understand why suddenly there are problems associated with their activities.
